Barbara Mckenzie

Barbara Frances McKenzie, aged 79, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 31, 2021, at Good Samaritan Society in Postville, Iowa. She was born September 9th, 1941 in Roswell, New Mexico to Kenneth Sexe and Violet (Jones) Sexe. She was a graduate of Pocahontas (IA) High School. Barbara married Jerome McKenzie on June 13th, 1962 at Trinity Lutheran Church in rural Pocahontas. She worked many office roles during her career, beginning at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester. She enjoyed her later working years crisscrossing the country as a travelling medical transcriptionist. Barbara loved exploring new locations and the many friendships she made along the way. Barbara cherished her role as a grandmother, and it brought her much joy. She is survived by her son Jeffrey (Kristin), grandchildren Madison and Hayden, sisters Betty (Calvin) Anderson and Patsy Sexe, brother Rodel (Gisela) Johnson and many nieces and nephews. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents Kenneth and Violet, her husband Jerome (July 2nd, 1966), sister Marie Wagner, brother-in-law Jack Wagner, nephew Chad Wagner and niece Gina Sexe. The family would like to thank the incredible staff at Good Samaritan for their love and support over the past few years. Her wish was to be cremated. In consideration of concerns regarding Covid-19, memorial services will be held at a later date.
