Ashley Cooper

Ashley Cooper, age 14, of Decorah, Iowa died on February 20, 2005 at her home at the Decorah Municipal Airport in Decorah, Iowa following a lifelong heart ailment. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 23, 2005 at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church with Gary Krapfl officiating. Burial will be in the Center Point Cemetery, Center Point, Iowa. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the Schluter – Balik Funeral Home and until 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning. There will be a scripture service at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday evening. Ashley Nikita Cooper was born on November 1, 1990 the daughter of Ava Bach and Steve Cooper in Houston, Texas. Ashley attended Decorah Community Schools and was in the eighth grade. She enjoyed animals, chorus, drawing, collecting stuffed animals, watching movies, and playing games. She also loved being at the airport, flying, spending time with her family and friends. Ashley was a member of St. Benedict’s Catholic Church. Ashley’s survivors include her parents: Mike & Ava Connell, Decorah, IA and Steve & Nancy Cooper, San Antonio, TX. Three brothers: Mathew Cooper, San Antonio, TX; Chad Connell, Decorah, IA and Damien Cooper, Fort Madison, IA. One sister: Alyssa Connell Becthold & husband Paul, Nashua, IA. One niece: Mackenzie Becthold, Nashua, IA. Grandparents: Linda Bach, Cedar Rapids, IA; Jim & Karen Connell, Independence, IA and Merlin & Jeanne Hermsen, Independence, IA. Family;Shannon(Mark) Brown, Chris(Becky) Bach, Tom Bach, Jon(Julie)Bach, Patrick Connell, David Connell, Kathleen(Patrick) Kennedy, Dianne (Wesley) Neal, Krista(Travis) James, and families. Special Aunts; Betty(Charlie) Stone and Peggy Ashlock. And a very special friend Kristen Fortman. Ashley was preceded in death by her grandparents: Gene and Barb Cooper. Great grandparents: Everett & Ava Ashlock. One Aunt: Andrea Bach.
