Arlyne Seim, age 93, of Decorah, Iowa, passed away on Friday, October 17, 2025, at Aase Haugen Senior Services.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at Helms Funeral Home, 306 E Water Street, Decorah, Iowa with Pastor Randy Kittelson presiding. Burial will be in the Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home on Wednesday morning.

Arlyne Laurayne Seim was born on October 1, 1932, in Dodgeville, Wisconsin. She is the daughter of Curtis and Norma Forbes of Osage, Iowa. Arlyne graduated from Prairie du Chien High School in 1950. She attended Luther College where she met and married Larry Seim on July 2, 1952, at the Lutheran Church in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin.
Arlyne and Larry lived in Decorah while Larry completed college at Luther and Arlyne taught at the Locust Country School for 2 years. They moved to Manhattan, Kansas and Chicago, Illinois while Larry was in the armed forces working in the finance office. Arlyne worked for the Hamm’s Brewing company as the secretary in Highland Park and Waukegan, Illinois. After Larry was honorably discharged from the army, they moved to Osage, Iowa for a year before returning to Decorah, Iowa in 1956.
Arlyne finished her education at Luther College and continued her elementary teaching career in Ridgeway, Iowa teaching kindergarten and second grade from 1961 until she retired in May of 1993. Arlyne was a long-time member of Beta Sigma Phi, an international women’s organization, Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority and Winneshiek County Retired School Personnel Association. She held numerous offices while associated with these organizations.
Arlyne is survived by her two sons, Jeff (Holly) Seim of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, and Scott Seim of Rochester, Minnesota. Her Sister, Eunice (Don) Hobkirk of Gainesville, Texas.
Arlyne is preceded in death by her husband, Larry Seim. Her parents, Curtis and Norma Forbes. Her three brothers, Curtis Jr. (Ann) Forbes, John (Rita) Forbes, and Eugene (Joy) Forbes.
