Arlene Kruchek age 92, of Protivin, IA passed away on Sunday, April 17, 2022 at Cedar Valley Hospice in Waterloo. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 23, 2022, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 124 N Main St, Protivin, IA 52163 with Rev. Daniel Knipper presiding. Burial will be in the St. Wenceslaus Catholic Cemetery in Spillville. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the Church in Protivin. Arlene Alice (Samec) Kruchek was born on December 21, 1929, the daughter of Frank and Alice (Kellner) Samec in Ridgeway, IA. She went to country school and high school in Ridgeway before marrying Jerry Kruchek on April 14, 1948, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Protivin, IA. Together they had two children: Joseph and Rosemary. Arlene was a homemaker and raised her children for many years before working at Ben Franklin in Waterloo later in life. In 1985, Arlene and Jerry moved to Protivin and shortly after they established and organized the senior meals program in Protivin for many years. She enjoyed taking car rides to the see the countryside, vegetable, and flower gardening. Arlene loved visiting and taking care of her family. Arlene is survived by her son: Joe (Tina) Kruchek, Dunkerton, IA. Grandchildren: J.J. Kruchek, Andrea (Brian) Wehling, Leilana Kruchek and David Kruchek. Great grandchildren: Meaghan (Matt) Snyder, Gabrielle Kruchek, Haley Kruchek, Elizabeth, Chris and Dylan Wehling, D’Asia, Sierra and Nari Kruchek. Great great-grandchildren: Reily, Bailee, Kit and Finn. Brothers: Frank (Marion) Samec and Art (Donna) Samec. Sister: Mary McConnell along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband: Jerry Kruchek. Daughter: Rosemary Kruchek. Parents: Frank and Alice (Kellner) Samec. Siblings: Ed Samec and Helen (Clarence) Sorenson. In-laws: Joseph (Adella) Kruchek; Clarence (Diane) Kruchek; George (Margaret) Kruchek. Brother-in-law: Frank McConnell.
