Anna H. Larson

Anna H. Larson, age 98, of Decorah, IA, died Monday, June 24, 2013 at Wellington Place in Decorah. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, June 29, 2013 at Canoe Ridge Lutheran Church in rural Decorah, with Rev. Stacey Nalean – Carlson officiating. Burial will be in Canoe Ridge Cemetery. Visitation begins on Saturday, June 29 at 1:00 P.M., one hour before the service, at Canoe Ridge Lutheran Church. Anna Henrietta Larson was born December 1, 1914 at home in Pleasant Township, Winneshiek County, Iowa, the daughter of Albert J. and Henrietta “Molly” (Osmundson) Larson. She was baptized and confirmed at Canoe Ridge Lutheran Church, where she was a life time member. Anna was an active member of the ladies WELCA and of the Eleanor Circle. She was educated in Country School #9 in Pleasant Township. Anna enjoyed gardening and canning her produce. She was also a great cook and made delicious cookies for her family and friends. Anna moved to Waucoma, IA in 1960. While living there, she was a care giver to her aging parents. She became a resident of Wellington Place in Decorah in March 2003. Anna was very active there; she served on the resident’s council and was a member of the Red Hat Society. She also enjoyed playing bingo and cards. Anna is survived by a sister, Helen Deeny of West Union; a sister-in-law, Nannette (Arnold) Larson Dahlen of Decorah; nephews: Dennis (Sharon) Deeny of Spring Branch, Texas, Paul (Connie) Deeny of Charles City, Iowa, Tim (Carol) Deeny of Protivin, Iowa; nieces: Cindy (Mike) Henderson of Urbana, Iowa, Patty Deeny of Bloomington, Minnesota, Laura (Bernard) Dreesman of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Diane (Steve) Guberud of Spring Grove, Minnesota and Deborah (Dave) Catron of Orlando, Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Osmund in 1959 and Walter in 1997: two sisters, Harriet in infancy in 1923 and Ingeborg M. Noecker in 1985; two brothers-in-law, Arthur Noecker in 1996 and Bernard Deeny in 2012; a sister-in-law, Eunice Larson in 2009; a nephew and niece, Arlyn and Lois Noecker in 1931; and a nephew, Gary Deeny in 2012.
