Angie Loesch, age 97 of Spillville, IA died Thursday, March 21, 2013 at the Winneshiek Medical Center in Decorah, IA. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 25, 2013 at the St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Spillville, IA with Rev. Donald Hawes presiding. Burial will be in the St. Wenceslaus Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 – 7:00 P.M. Sunday, March 24, 2013 at the Balik Funeral Home in Spillville, IA there will also be visitation after 10:00 at the church on Monday. Angeline Louise (Taylor) Loesch was born on June 10, 1915, the daughter of John and Christina (Jarosh) Taylor south of Spillville on the family farm. Angie attended St. Wenceslaus Catholic School. She was united in marriage to Louis Loesch on September 20, 1937 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church. Angie and Louis farmed together west of Spillville until 1975, when they moved into their new home in Spillville. Angie loved to quilt. She made hand-tied and hand quilted quilts for her family She also helped with the large quilts for the church projects. She always enjoyed having a garden full of strawberries , raspberries and all kinds of vegetables, and her flower gardens were always weed free and beautiful. Angie loved to share her bounty from her gardens. Helping people was Angie's way of life. She was always willing to give rides to Decorah for those who needed them. She was an active volunteer at the Senior Meal site at Spillville. When she was young ( in her eighty’s) she enjoyed Bingo. She had always loved To dance but when that was not possible, she would enjoy to just sit and listen. In her later years she was an avid rosary maker. She kept record of how many she had made. She started making rosary in 1995 and with her year sight failing made her last ones in 2008. During that time she made 30,907 rosaries and on each one had said the prayers of the rosary before sending them on. Angie had never felt she was old. On her 95th Birthday she commented that " I guess I am getting old now that I’m 95." Angie was a Strong person and sometimes a little stubborn. But that is what makes her unforgettable. Angie loved her family, she loved life and she had a deep faith and love of God. This is what Angie is leaving for her family and friends to go forward and celebrate her life. She was a devoted mother and loved her family. Angie was a lifetime member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church. Angie’s survivors include one son: Lowell (Helen) Loesch, Gibbon, MN. One daughter: Lela (Richard) Numedahl, Decorah, IA. Nine grandchildren: Linda (Stan) Lennon, Fort Atkinson, IA; Loren Loesch, Spillville, IA; Lynn (Brian) Christopher, Decorah, IA; Lisa (Daniel) Turbus, Lakeville, MN; Peter (Tessa) Numedahl, Decorah, IA; Paul (Amy) Numedahl, Monument, CO; Perry (fiancé, Meg) Numedahl, Decorah, IA; Rae Ann (Earl) Arneson, Decorah, IA; and Randee Numdahl, Decorah, IA. Twenty-six great grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren. One brother: Howard (Clarabelle) Taylor, Spillville, IA. One sister: Arlene Klimesh, Ft. Atkinson, IA. One sister-in-law: Camilla Taylor, New Hampton, IA. Angeline was preceded in death by her parents: John and Christina (Jarosh) Taylor. Her husband: Louis Loesch in 1986. One grandchild: Linus Loesch. One sister: Harriett (Larry) Frana. One brother: Richard Taylor. One brother-in-law: Stanley Klimesh.
