Alvin Kruse

Alvin Kruse, age 73, of St. Lucas, IA, died on Friday, July 1, 2011, at the Ossian Senior Hospice in Ossian, IA. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, July 5, 2011, at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in St. Lucas, IA., with Rev. Marvin Salz presiding. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 3:00-6:00 p.m., on Monday, July 4, 2011, at St. Luke’s Catholic Church. There will be a rosary at 4:00 and a scripture service at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Schluter – Balik Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Alvin Nicholas Kruse was born on January 9, 1938, the son of Albert and Albina (Schrandt) Kruse, near Fort Atkinson, IA. Alvin attended St. Luke’s Catholic School and served in the US Army. After the service, he returned and farmed, drove truck and hauled milk for the St. Lucas Creamery. Alvin always enjoyed the hospitality and the food at the White House in St. Lucas. He entered the Ossian Senior Hospice on December 4, 2009. Alvin was a member of St. Luke’s Catholic Church, the Rosary Society and the Aloysius Schmitt American Legion Post #691. Alvin is survived by his brother: Anthony “Tony” (Agnes) Kruse, Fort Atkinson, IA. One sister-in-law: Bonnie Kruse, Ossian, IA. One nephew: Gerald Kruse, Fredericksburg, IA. One great nephew: Robert Kruse and one great niece: Destaney Kruse. Alvin was preceded in death by his parents: Albert on July 1, 1979 and Albina on November 27, 2002. One brother: Kenneth Kruse on July 1, 1996.
