Alma L. Burreson

Alma L. Burreson, age 93, of Decorah, IA, died on Sunday, September 7, 2008, at the Barthell Eastern Star Home in Decorah, Iowa, following a lingering illness. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 13, 2008, at the Decorah Lutheran Church, Decorah, Iowa, with Rev. Bryan Robertson and Rev. Allen Vik officiating. Burial will be in Phelps Cemetery, Decorah, IA. Friends may call from 4:00-6:30 p.m. on Friday at the Schluter – Balik Funeral Home in Decorah and also after 10:00 a.m. at the church on Saturday morning. Alma Lydia (Linderbaum) Burreson was born on December 28, 1914, the daughter of Charles and Alma (Pliester) Linderbaum on the family farm near Castalia, Iowa. Alma attended country school near Castalia and married Everett Burreson on February 14, 1938, at the Decorah Lutheran Church parsonage. Alma was a homemaker while her children were young. She then worked as an insurance agent for Security Bank for over twenty-five years, retiring in 1976. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, making crafts, golfing, playing cards with friends and going fishing up north. Alma was a member of the Decorah Lutheran Church and ladies circle. Alma’s survivors include one son: Jim Burreson, Decorah, IA. Grandchildren: Dawn (Erik) Lindgren, Arvada, CO; Matthew (Jerita) Muscat, Oman; Rachel Burreson, North Liberty, IA; and Sonja Burreson, Ryan, IA. Two great grandchildren: Michael (Jamie) Burreson, Ryan, IA and Jessica Burreson, Ryan, IA. Two great-great grandchildren: Gabby and Hailie Burreson, Ryan, IA. Daughter-in-law: Barb Burreson, Hopkinton, IA. One brother: Lawrence Linderbaum & wife Evelyn, Monona, IA. Three sisters-in-law: Marie Linderbaum, Ossian, IA; Esther Linderbaum, Ossian, IA and Marian Linderbaum, Castalia, IA several nieces and nephews. Alma was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Everett Burreson in January 1984. Son: David in January 1999. Daughter-in-law: Pamela in June 1985. Grandson: Scott in April 2008. Six brothers: Carl, Walter, Earl, Edward, Arthur and Charles Linderbaum. Four sisters: Lydia Cook, Clara Cutting, Elsie Hughes and Jennie Clement.
