Alan Bakken

Alan M. Bakken, age 54, of Decorah, IA, died Thursday morning, December 9, 2021, at home of natural causes. Visitation will be on Sunday, January 2, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. to 12 Noon, at Fjelstul Funeral Home in Decorah. Alan Michael Bakken, age 54, of Decorah, IA, died Thursday morning, December 9, 2021, at home of natural causes. Alan was born on September 21, 1967, in Decorah, Iowa, the son of Hubert Alan and Judy Kay (Mefferd) Bakken. He graduated from South Winneshiek High School in Calmar, IA with the class of 1987. Alan was united in marriage to Paula Olson on October 4, 1997, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Fort Atkinson, IA. They divorced in 2014. Alan worked a few different jobs, then started working at Featherlite Trailers in Cresco, as a welder. He worked there for 20 years. Alan really enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He also liked delivering newspapers for the Des Moines Register. Alan is survived by his four children: Aaron (Shelby) Zimmerman of West Union, IA, Kayla Bakken (boyfriend Ben Sorenson) of St. Joseph, MN, Shaina Bakken and Matthew Bakken of Calmar; two grandchildren, Ristyn and Brynlee Zimmerman; his parents, Hubert and Judy Bakken of Decorah; his sister Annette (Mark) Zweibohmer of Ossian, IA; and two brothers, Mike (Lorraine) Bakken of Oskaloosa, IA and Chad Bakken of Monroe, LA; as well as many aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, and cousins.
